ISSUE, BACKGROUND, ANALYSIS, & RECOMMENDATION
ISSUE:
This is an informational report on anticipated operational expenditures through the Interagency Agreement with the Department of Technology in the FY 2015-16.
BACKGROUND:
POST routinely contracts with the California Department of Technology through an Interagency Agreement for some of its computer services, as well as consulting expertise when necessary.

POST uses the Department of Technology data center resources and consulting services to support its daily operations and for troubleshooting POST's LAN systems. POST leases equipment from Department of Technology and provides the network infrastructure and vital services necessary to conduct business.

Additionally, this Interagency Agreement allows POST to lease necessary data networking infrastructure equipment and services.
ANALYSIS:
This Interagency Agreement funds POST's Internet connection through the lease of fiber-optic communications lines, as well as firewall equipment that provides security against common network attacks. Connections and infrastructure enabled by this Interagency Agreement support all online services provided by POST, including EDI, Learning Portal, the POST Website, e-mail, CalATERS reimbursements, the Basic Course Website, and others. New email archiving services, allowing POST to recover electronic email more quickly, will also be provided under this agreement.

Expenditures from this account are expected to be $157,000 in FY 2015-16, a reduction of $15,440 from the amount requested in FY 2014-15.

See Attachment A for cost breakdown.  All costs are predetermined by the California Department of Technology.
RECOMMENDATION:
This is an informational report on expected expenditures for FY 2015-16.
