BACKGROUND:
At its October 2011 meeting, the Commission authorized the Executive Director to enter into a contract with the San Diego Regional Training Center in an amount not to exceed $147,500 to present a symposium on environmental crimes training and to continue to present the previously developed course on environmental crimes.
ANALYSIS:

The “Responding to Environmental Crimes” course was presented March 22, 2012 in Anaheim.  A second offering of this course is scheduled for June 14, 2012 in Northern California.

Staff is presently working in partnership with Cal EPA and the San Diego Regional Training Center to develop the symposium on environmental crimes training, scheduled to be held in San Diego on October 16 – 18, 2012.  POST staff has facilitated two planning sessions consisting of environmental crimes prosecutors, investigators and regulators to focus on symposium design and curriculum.
