ISSUE, BACKGROUND, ANALYSIS, & RECOMMENDATION |
ISSUE: |
Should the Commission authorize the Executive Director to contract with San Diego Regional Training Center or another entity for the presentation of a Supervisory Course Facilitators' Training (SCFT) workshop and an Introduction to Situational Leadership II workshop during FY 2014-15, in an amount not to exceed $33,130? |
BACKGROUND: |
The Supervisory Course is presented with an extensive use of experience-based learning techniques, video scenarios, case studies, and participative student exercises. Commission Regulation 1070 requires that all facilitators of the Supervisory Course successfully complete a SCFT workshop prior to facilitating classroom activities. In addition, facilitators must receive in-depth instruction on the Situational Leadership II (SL II) methodology. These requirements are the result of a recent Commission approved course update. |
ANALYSIS: |
One SCFT workshop is planned for FY 2014-15, as is one workshop on the SL II methodology. The SCFT workshops provide in-depth familiarity with the myriad of updates to the Supervisory Course. The separate SL II training workshops enable facilitators to gain the level of competence and confidence essential for imparting the SL II concepts. This contract includes the costs for the SL II kits for each facilitator. |
RECOMMENDATION: |
Staff recommends that the Commission authorize the Executive Director to enter into a contract with San Diego Regional Training Center, or another entity, to present SCFT and an Introduction to Situational Leadership II workshop during workshops during FY 2013-14, in an amount not to exceed $33,130. |
