ISSUE: |
Should the Commission authorize the Executive Director to contract with the current presenters of the Management Course, or other entities, for FY 2014-15 in an amount not to exceed $1,056,527.00? |
BACKGROUND: |
The Management Course is mandated by Commission Regulation for all sworn managers in the POST program within 12 months of promotion to the management rank. Sworn first-line supervisors and civilian managers may also attend if approved by their department heads. Sworn managers who are mandated to attend receive enrollment preference. This 104-hour course makes use of adult learning principles, employing numerous exercises, reading assignments, and group projects to enhance students’ management skills. |
ANALYSIS: |
The FY 2014-15 cost to present 27 sessions of the Management Course by four contracted presenters and purchase equipment will be
$1,056,527.00.
Attachment A lists the proposed course presenters and the respective number of presentations and contract amounts. |
RECOMMENDATION: |
Staff recommends that the Commission authorize the Executive Director to contract with the current presenters of the Management Course, or other entities, for FY 2014-15 in an amount not to exceed $1,056,527.00. |
