ISSUE:
This is a status report of courses that have been certified and decertified from 5/1/16 to 8/31/16.
BACKGROUND:
This report is submitted to the Commission tri-annually to report the status of certified and decertified courses (see Attachment A).  At the June 2016 meeting, the Commission requested more detail relative to this standing report.  Attachment B (New Course Rpt) provides details regarding the certification of new courses. Attachment C (Decert. Courses Rpt.) provides details regarding the decertified courses during this time frame.
ANALYSIS:

The following is a summary of Attachment A:

Referring to Attachment B (New Course Rpt.), 26 of the 90 Certified Courses have been updated and are not new courses.  Updated courses could refer to those courses that had been previously decertified or had been placed in modification for a variety of reasons.  Of the remaining 64 Certified Courses, twenty-two (22%) percent of the new courses are firearms related, nine percent (9%) are perishable skills courses, and seven percent (7%) are dispatcher related courses.  The remaining sixty-two percent (62%) involve a variety of other topics.

Referring to Attachment C (Decert Courses Rpt) decertified courses totaled 818.  The below is a breakdown of these courses.
