ISSUE:
Long Beach Department of Disaster Preparedness and Emergency Communications sought entry into the POST Reimbursable Dispatcher Program for its dispatchers.
BACKGROUND:
Long Beach Department of Disaster Preparedness and Emergency Communications requested to participate in the POST Reimbursable Program pursuant to Penal Code 13510 (c) and 13522.  The agency has agreed to abide by POST Regulations.  An Ordinance of the City Council of the City of Long Beach was adopted on July 12, 2018, as required by Penal Code 13522.
ANALYSIS:
The agency presently employs fifty-six (56) full-time dispatchers. All dispatchers with the exception of one (1) have completed the Public Safety Dispatcher Basic Course or obtained the Dispatcher Basic Certificate.  Possession of the Dispatcher Certificate is voluntary, and is not required to perform dispatcher duties (Regulation 1011).
RECOMMENDATION:

The Commission is advised that the Long Beach Department of Disaster Preparedness and Emergency Communications dispatchers have been accepted into the POST Reimbursable Program.
