To provide the IDI Program, POST contracts with qualified presenters to facilitate the courses. The IDI programs not only allow students to meet POST Regulation requirements, but enhances their course development and facilitation skills which raises the quality of the courses presented at the basic and in-service levels.
The contract with San Diego Regional Training Center (SDRTC) includes program management, Advanced and Master IDI level course presentations, and IDI Intermediate Certification (the second level of the IDI Program). This includes, a 24-hour Core Course and multiple one-day instructor development training courses that assist instructors to meet the triennial re-certification requirement of eight hours every three years. In addition, SDRTC provides IDI facilitator development that is essential to keep the program at the leading edge of instructor training.
