ISSUE:
During a recent review of compliance inspections, POST staff determined the Alameda/Contra Costa Transit Police Department dissolved effective May 12, 2006.
BACKGROUND:

The Alameda/Contra Costa Transit Police Department became a POST Program agency in June 1986.

During a recent review of agency compliance audits, staff learned the Alameda/Contra Costa Transit Police Department became obsolete in 2006. On or about May 12, 2006, the Contra Costa County Sheriff's Office took over the policing services contract for the Alameda Contra Costa Transit District (ACTransit).

ANALYSIS:
Staff researched the hard-copy file and found no evidence of recent activity, and the POST Regional Consultant for Alameda/Contra Costa was not working for POST in 2006. An EDI search revealed that one name was still present on the agency roster. Further investigation showed that the employee retired in 2006. Therefore, the Alameda/Contra Costa Transit Police Department is no longer associated with the POST Program.
RECOMMENDATION:
POST staff recommends the Commission approve the dissolution of the Alameda/Contra Costa Transit Police Department from the POST Program.
