ISSUE:
Should the Commission approve, subject to the Notice of Proposed Regulatory Action process, the proposed revision to the Basic Course Waiver application form as enumerated in the report?
BACKGROUND:

The Basic Course Waiver (BCW) process is an option for peace officers from other states to meet the Regular Basic Course (RBC) training requirement. Applicants submit documentation of prior law enforcement training and service. The BCW process compares entry level and in-service training to the California requirements. Applicants who meet the minimum training requirement can proceed to the BCW Assessment Process, which assesses job knowledge and skills levels.

ANALYSIS:

The proposed revisions would update the BCW application form (Attachment A) to make it consistent with Regulation 1005.

RECOMMENDATION:
Staff recommends the Commission approve, subject to the Notice of Proposed Regulatory Action process, the recommendation as described in this report.
