ISSUE:
In 2019, the Commission on Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST) convened a large summit consisting of 100+ law enforcement subject matter experts and a diverse assortment of industry professionals to conduct an in-depth exploration of de-escalation. This comprehensive collection of data was assembled, processed, and authored as a publication for POST. This publication provides law enforcement with valuable insight into how best to achieve voluntary cooperation and compliance with statutory law, improve public policy, develop quality training, increase officer/public safety, reduce the need for physical force, and enhance police legitimacy.

Early last month the publication was released/publicized to the field with favorable comments.
