ISSUE, BACKGROUND, ANALYSIS, & RECOMMENDATION
ISSUE:
Should the Commission authorize the Executive Director to enter into a contract with a qualifying entity for the presentation of the Sherman Block Supervisory Leadership in an amount not to exceed $2,644,599.16?
BACKGROUND:
The Training Program Services (TPS) Bureau fulfills POST’s vision through the development and maintenance of training curricula for California Peace Officers. TPS utilizes annual contracts to provide mandated and necessary training in the areas of leadership, criminal investigations, future foresight, supervision, management, instructor development, diversity, and tolerance. 

TPS maintains quality and excellence in its training course through quality assessment, instructor development, and curriculum updates to incorporate and address contemporary issues and subject matter improvements.

ANALYSIS:

Maximum budget expenditures are described in Attachment A.

The proposed budget did not increase from the previous fiscal year.

The current contract will expire at the end of this fiscal year, Fiscal Year 2020-21. 

 
RECOMMENDATION:
POST staff recommends the Commission authorize the Executive Director to enter into a contract with a qualifying entity for the presentation of the POST Sherman Block Supervisory Leadership Institute in an amount not to exceed $2,644,599.16.
